Our Story

A Family Dream Come True

Creative International School (CIS) is more than an academic institution — it is a living legacy of a family deeply devoted to education, child development, and community values.

Our story began in the early 1980s, when Mrs. Doreya Khalil (affectionately known as Lola) and her mother established a boutique nursery in an elite villa in Mohandessin.

The Kangaroo Nursery quickly gained recognition for its warm, multilingual environment — offering diverse language programs that served a vibrant community of German, English and French expatriates. The Kangaroo Nursery was the number one nursery of choice that will prepare kids for difficult school admissions to the best schools in Cairo, including the German school DEO, French Lycee and El Alson.

Families were drawn not only to the academic strength of the nursery, but to the sense of belonging, structure, and intentional care embedded in its daily life.

At its heart, it was a space that blended creativity, discipline, and early intellectual curiosity — a place where families felt heard, supported, and part of a caring professional team. As the children thrived and parents began asking for a way to continue their child’s education with the same values, structure, and nurturing environment.

Through all these milestones, one thing has remained constant: a strong family spirit that continues to define and guide the school's community.

Today, the school continues to be family-owned and family-led. Mrs. Doreya and her daughters are present on campus daily, actively involved in the school’s academic and operational life. Together, they continue to nurture the strong community spirit that defined the original nursery — one rooted in structure, creativity, discipline, and a deeply personal connection to every child and their family.

At CIS, education is personal. We believe every student is unique with a set of strengths, challenges, and potentials. It is our mission to provide a tailored learning experience that supports the whole variety of our students. In close collaboration with parents and teachers, the school fosters a culture where students are seen, supported, and empowered to thrive, not only academically, but also as kind, confident, and capable human beings.

Creative International School offers both the National Language Program and a Cognia-accredited American Diploma Program, welcoming students from Kindergarten through graduation (baccalaureate or Grade 12). With over 28 graduating classes from the national division and 20 from the American Diploma, CIS remains committed to its founding promise: to offer a values-driven, family-led education that prepares students to grow, lead, and contribute to their communities with heart, purpose, and excellence.

CIS

A new vision emerged.

Mrs. Doreya and her late husband, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, brought that vision to life by extending the operation with a Primary school in another location in mohandessin and then into a full-cycle educational institution with a large campus in the Giza governorate. In 1989, they established The Nile Kangaroo Language School — a comprehensive academic system designed to carry children through their entire educational journey.

Building on the momentum and recognizing the importance of wellbeing and space, the school later expanded to a larger campus, at our current location on the Nile Corniche, with full fledged facilities, playgrounds and sports fields, that re-inforces our core values. This foundation would later grow into what is now known as El Ebdaa Language School / Creative International School (CIS) — starting as a national language school and evolving into a multi-stream campus rooted in academic excellence, personal growth, and character development.

To meet the evolving needs of our community and expand student educational opportunities, the American Diploma Division was launched in 2003. Earning its first CITA accreditation soon after, CIS proudly graduated its first American Diploma class in 2006.
